I have recently been reading an interview with Lewis taken as he prepares to bow out of his role as Bodie and the final episode of The Professionals was being filmed. I love to imagine what he says in this part of the interview and how they both felt on giving up the characters that we love so much.

SO, HOW DID HE FEEL ON THIS RATHER SAD OCCASION

"Numb, and a bit relieved to tell the truth. I've nothing against The Professionals but we've been doing nothing else for the past four years and it feels like five or more now.

Martin and i had a serious talk the other day - we don't often talk too seriously you know - and we realised we've shared a lot of laughs and had quite a few touching moments too. It may have been a difficult four years in many ways but that didn't have anything to do with my companions" (Lewis Collins)

Oh, lovely--both the photo (which is one of my all-time favorites) and the interview snippet. I completely understand being ready to move on, and, especially as an actor, feeling "stuck" in a role. But it is lovely to hear that he was feeling a bit of loss, too, and realizing how many good times there were. Thank you for sharing!

I love this picture also and yes there does come a time when the actor has to move on but i'm glad that he remembered the good times to.

I love this - the image and the quotation! I do like to think of them valuing what they shared - that great spark between them, of course, and the laughs and touching moments too :-)

That's a lovely quote, and a lovely photo. I like to think he remembered and valued the shared laughs and the touching moments spent while filming the series, despite the gruelling schedule and not being able to work on any other role for four-five years...
Thank you!

What a beautiful Lew/Bodie photo! I also enjoyed the interview excerpt. It's interesting to hear his thoughts, at that moment in time.

Thank you for sharing this! :D

Thanks for this, I hadn't seen the interview and I've always liked that picture. I imagine the ending must have been bittersweet.

I always think it's sad that they didn't enjoy making it as much as we loved watching it.

But it's good that even then they recognised how much laughter there had been

yes , i presume it was at times hard work filming The Professionals as i have read interviews from Lewis saying how he suffered from heart palpatations because he was that exhausted.

It is lovely to remember the good times too.

It can't have been a peasant experience no matter how much they were getting paid, you can see why neither signed back on.

I hadn't heard about the heart palpitations, they really should have taken better care of them.

yes it must have been hard on them even though they were getting paid a lot of money.

Yes, he has often said how much the filming took out of him at the end of the day.

And it wasn't as if he wasn't fit.
