Nine pm yesterday evening and i'm sat on the couch, glass of wine in one hand and the tv remote in the other. Flicking through the channels because there was absolutely naff all on the tv when all of a sudden on one channel a car comes smashing through a glass window and a gorgeous looking man appears running along side a car park, my attention is now on high alert. The next scene grabs my attention and the wine glass is now abandoned on the floor.



Suddenly there is something worth watching on the tv. The programme was "It was alright in the 70's" and the theme was violence and sex and this clip was shown to viewers from the 70's and todays audience , their reaction being "OH MY GOD WHAT'S HE DOING" and my reaction being "OH MY GOD HOW FIT IS HE" . Lewis's character took the backlash and no this would not be allowed on tv today ...who cares , sit back and enjoy the view.

well it certainly brightened up my sunday nights viewing that's for sure. It may only have lasted for five minutes but it was definitely worth it.

Oh lucky you! Sounds like a fun programme. ..And what a great moment to play!

It's so much fun seeing 70s action conventions juxtaposed with 21st century reactions. :D

It is strange to get the reaction of todays audience against those that were around to watch it in the seventies . Apparantly this scene would be too much for todays viewers but i must admit to enjoying the view while it was being shown *g*.

What a lovely treat for you and for us. I've been wondering lately if either Lewis or Martin would have had a chance in today's world, just because of the way the media is nowadays. I'd like to think that they would but I'm so glad that we got what we did and that we're all still enjoying it.

Thankyou and i'm afraid this scene involving Lewis did not go down very well with todays audience and if The Professionals were to be screened on todays tv it would have to be less violent which i think would take away from what The Professionals as a series is all about.

Well, Pros got a lot of flak during its first run too, for the perceived violence etc. But I still think it was portrayed in a gritty, almost realistic, certainly not glamorised way back then. Nowadays sometimes violent or controversial scenes are portrayed in irrealistic ways, they look almost too polished, if you know what I mean. And they're often devoid of humour and sparkle. I think Pros did a good job back then of trying to show what special forces in law enforcement were able to do, and get away with, while at the same time showing the constant life-and-death risk their agents were taking, highly trained and capable as they may be, but still human...

Like the tv programme was trying to show, it was people's different attitudes to violence back in the 70's but i think The Professionals were very good at showing what their agents had to go through to get the job done and anyway it brightened up my viewing that's for sure.

Oh fun .. Yes, it's interesting what we responded to then and what we respond to now. "How fit" is the best response :D
