SOME WONDERFUL MEMORIES

ali15sonYesterday i sat watching the episode "stakeout" and i started to think back to how this one prgramme would stay with me forever. In 1977 i was eight years old (oh dear that gives my age away now) and i don't recall The Professionals being advertised but i knew there was something special about to hit our tv screens. I remember asking my mum and then pleading with my mum to stay up and watch this show but the answer was no , it was on too late for me to watch it so i missed out on the first series. I finally got my own way a year later and i remember my first ever episode that i watched was Hunter Hunted . I was hooked from then on and i knew this show would stay with me forever but even more was this one man . He was tall , dark and utterly gorgeous and will always have a special place in my heart and he was always going to be my favourite . Bodie and The Professionals will always be in my eyes "simply the best".

I still remember to be sitting in front of the telly with one of my brothers and going on and on about the car, and about how cool were all the characters *smiles*

Date: 2016-01-15 03:48 pm (UTC)The pros were running later in Germany. Begining of the 80th i think, i was in my teens. I still remember , the first epi i saw was Rogue. And at the end the gorgeous dark one was injured. I was shocked and loved him. And i still do. :-)

Date: 2016-01-15 05:07 pm (UTC)I was a teenager when the series first aired on UK TV and I remember missing 'Discovered In A Graveyard' because my mum made the family attend an ecumenical evening mass (we were brought up as Catholic) and then - horror of horrors because we thought we'd be home in time for Pros - stay for tea and cake in the church hall afterwards. She almost had a riot on her hands. I was 23 before I got to see that episode. :-)

I loved the show from first airing too and Bodie will always have a special place in my heart.
We didn't get a VCR until after the show stopped airing (always the last to get anything) so I lived on memories and my annual for a very long time, then they arrived on VHS, but I didn't buy them because I was afraid they wouldn't live up to my memories.
I started reading the fanfic two or three years ago (when I discovered it), but still didn't have the shows. Then ITV started showing (edited) episodes, which I watched on their player. I was very trepidatious because my memories were so good - good enough to spot over thirty years later that they'd edited out Bodie's 'blame himself for the invention of gunpowder' line!
By this time I'd seen some fanvids and knew the production quality wasn't going to disappoint after all this time. So, like I said, I watched an episode, got hooked all over again, watched some more and finally picked up a second hand set of the Contender release.
I don't have the blu-rays (or indeed, an actual blu-ray player), but the eps are still brilliant - and Cowley is still God :0).
