I did post a story but unfortunately i posted it to the wrong place by mistake so one selfish person removed it. Well i won't be posting it anywhere else. No guesses on who deleted it and i don't need a gentle reminder, it was a genuine mistake. It took quite a bit of courage not to mention the time it took to write it so a bit of warning would have been nice.

I'd like to let you know I've read your story this morning and I really enjoyed it. It's a very interessting plot and well written. I like the open end, so it's up to the reader's imagination how life goes on.

Thankyou very much for liking it. It took me a long time to gain the courage to post it and i know it was genuinely a mistake to put it on that site but what infuriates me the most is that i didn't get a chance to repost it elsewhere, it was already deleted.

My writing days are well and truly over before they began.

I didn't see what happened, but I can guess from a reminder that was posted to the comm that you posted to the Box of Tricks Big Bang lj. Like Discoveredinalj that's for very specific challenges, so I don't imagine they meant anything hurtful by taking it down.

I'd like to read your story though, and the_safehouse was created for people to post stories to whenever they'd like to, so I'm sure everyone would be happy if you re-posted it there for us all to read! The other thing is that it has many more members than the other comms, as it was the first Pros lj community, so there will be lots more potential readers there too. *g*

The story was posted genuinely on the wrong site and what is infuriating me most is that i didn't get a chance to repost it because it had already been deleted. I don't really care if she was being hurtful or not , it would have been nice to be given the opportunity There is no way i am rewriting it all over again.

Oh no - you wrote it directly onto lj? What a shame, and how frustrating! I must admit that even though I have occasionally written a story directly onto lj, I have always copy-and-pasted it to somewhere else as well, just because there are glitches on every site, and I'm wary of losing what I've written. Usually I write my story on my computer, and then copy-and-paste it to lj, so that there are at least two versions, always. To be honest I think most people do it that way, so I bet the Box of Tricks mods just assumed you'd saved it elsewhere. I do understand how you feel about trying to rewrite it though, I wouldn't want to either - it's never the same...

I don't suppose you received any comments on it before it was deleted? If so, you might have a copy quoted in your inbox notifications?

Well thank goodness for that! *g* I know it feels like a shock, but it also sounds like this was a genuine mistake in posting to a challenge-specific comm. I know that over at Discoveredinalj, empty_mirrors and I spent so long setting the comm up so that everything worked smoothly, that it can be a shock in the other direction when someone doesn't seem to understand it, and posts where it accidentally messes things up, so I'm guessing the mods at the Box of Tricks felt a bit like that too.

It used to be that everyone knew what each of the lj comms was for, but there's been such messing around over the last half/dozen years or so that it's probably not clear to newer people (not that you're new-new, but perhaps new-since-the-comms-were-more-obviousl *g*):

the_safehouse was always for general Pros posting, new stories, vids, artwork and so on, at any time.
ci5hq was for talking about Pros stories, reviewing them and chatting, at any time
discoveredinalj was for various themed/seasonal challenges, according to the challenges

Then there was a fandom faff, and a new group of people decided to make a new comm that they controlled, rather than joining in with everyone else - teaandswissroll was basically the same as the_safehouse, but run by this group.

Then some people in that group wanted to do a Big Bang challenge, like other fandoms were doing, and so they made ci5_boxoftricks specifically to do that.

The of course there are other specific comms such as prosfinder, which is for getting help finding stories that you've forgotten, and recently I'd hoped ci5hq_dnoticed might encourage people to share articles and so on in one place, but really only myself and macklingirl shared there. Oh, and prosficindex and pros_newsletter, of course! I may have forgotten others, if so I'm sorry!

But of course, how do people know these things unless they find out/read the user info pages/etc? So please don't be disheartened, and do re-post your story when you're feeling a bit less upset about it. *g*

Thankyou for the info regarding all of the pros sites, after being here for 10 years now i do know what each one is for etc... like i said it was simply the wrong button pressed.

Maybe i will put the story up one day but it will be going on my journal that way no-one can delete it.

As a former moderator for the Big Bang for six years, I'm sorry to say, it's for a specific challenge of a specific length. Nobody was being mean or cruel. As BSL said below, there are ways to post to that site and that challenge. It is not a story posting site otherwise.

However, BistoCon is accepting stories for their site but not until August 4th, the first day of the convention. You are certainly free to add it there if you like within the guidelines here:

Yes i know what the box of tricks site is for and it was posted there by mistake but i am angry because i didn't get a chance to re post it to another site, was deleted before i got the chance.

So sad to read that. It is a mistake that can happen to everyone because that journal often is the first in the list of coms. In my opinion the mod should have asked you to edit your post and change the journal. That would have been the best way, because such things can happen.

Oh, and there is no comment allowed in general. If it were possible to comment I would ask why they don't change the posting routine tom"no posts allowed until a mod says ok" for the time between November and October?
