A Day Like No Other

Yesterday was a day i will never forget. We went to Silverstone to see the cars that were being auctioned the following day,not only was the auction being held but it was also a three day festival, including motor racing, a classic car show and loads more but there was only one attraction for me. Silverstone race circuit is huge and the auction cars were on display at "the wing" which was way over the other side so you had to board a bus and catch a free ride. We are now infront of the cars that are being auctioned on the forecourt but there is no sign of the Capri's. The specialist cars are inside so i enter the first room and on to the next one and there they are together in the corner.



I an now speechless with both cars infront of me. I head straight to the silver capri and can't help but touch it then it's on to phtographing both cars. After ten minutes of looking and walking around both cars one of the sales reps came and asked if i was enjoying it, "i certainly am" i replied "i would love to sit in it" i just couldn't resist asking. "Which one" he said "this one" was my reply, pointing at the silver one . " Hang on a minute, i'll go and get the keys" he said.....are you kidding me. Off he goes and comes back with the keys, he puts them in the lock and says to me "you open it, sit inside and enjoy, there's no rush". Oh my! Everything is fully restored originally inside, the seats are the original seats and the rep said "you are now sitting where Lewis Collins sat" WOW what a beautiful car.




And there is me enjoying every minute and after enjoying this treat there was more photos to take, like the display of the lads and not forgetting both cars





But that wasn't the end, there was more to come and i will post again tomorrow.

You had the capris entirety to your own ? Nobody else were there I suppose. Otherwise the salesman wouldn't have let you in.

Thankyou so much and i can't believe that i actually got to sit in Bodie's capri and to be told to enjoy it and not to rush, the cars have been restored beautifully and both are in pristine condition. Also the rep said that he was doing this because i was a genuine fan, he wouldn't allow it otherwise.

I did at this point but there were people nearby , looking at the other cars that were being auctioned. It was a dream come true to be allowed to sit in Bodie's capri and a memory i will treasure.
