My day out in Heysham overlooking Morecambe bay. This is the ruins of St Patricks chapel, a lovely place to build a chapel, high on the cliffs, looking out over Morecambe bay.

These are the burial sites of some of the priests and it is stated that one may have been used for the burial of St patrick though these graves were used to hold the bones of the priests which is why it is seen as a place of pilgrimage.

The view out over Morecambe bay

And the beautiful church of St Peter built in the 14th century and the views from the rear of the church also look out over the bay.

And finally those burial sites in full view.

And then it was time to have a drink in the beer garden of the local pub.

It was a beautiful day to visit . The views over the bay are breath taking and once you are up close to the ruins there is a sense of peace and calm as you look across the sea to the lake district and beyond.

Thankyou for looking.

It is a beautiful place to visit and the views are really something when you reach the ruins and look out across to the lake district. Another little fact about Heysham, they make the most delicious nettle pop and nettle beer, it may not sound nice but it is *g*

Thankyou.

I love ruins of old churches and old burial sides. Great of you to take us with you on your visiting tour. And it looks as if the church is in very good condition. I think you deserved your beer after the walk. :-)
